HeartWorks pathology models for both TEE and TTE have been created to facilitate the ultrasound evaluation of patients with structural and functional disturbances of the heart and lungs.
This module includes:
This model illustrates many of the echocardiographic findings associated with aortic incompetence. The illustrated lesion is due to endocarditis; vegetations, abscess formation and leaflet perforation are present along with the typical haemodynamic and Doppler ultrasound features of moderately severe aortic valve incompetence.
Lung ultrasound is increasingly used to detect the presence of pneumothorax. This model highlights the typical ultrasound features of a pneumothorax and allows the student to distinguish the appearance from that of normal lung ultrasound using 2D and M-mode ultrasound techniques.
Echocardiographic features consistent with a state of hypovolemia have been incorporated into this model. A state of tachycardia, hyperdynamic contraction and reduced stroke volume as well as the typical changes seen when examining the inferior vena cava are included.
