EACVI TEE Teaching Course supported by HeartWorks
MedaPhor recently supported the EACVI (European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging) Teaching Course on Transoesophageal 2D and 3D Echocardiography with four HeartWorks TEE simulators. The EACCME accredited course took place at the European Heart House in Sophia Antipolis, France, and welcomed over 90 cardiologists for three days of comprehensive theoretical and hands-on training sessions.
HeartWorks TEE simulators were used to support the hands-on sessions throughout the three days. Teaching content using the simulators covered basic and advanced echo skills, key protocols and procedures including left and left heart chambers, mitral valve, aortic valve and interventional procedures.
Dr. Denisa Muraru, Chair of EACVI Education Committee and one of the Directors of the EACVI course, commented: “For several years, we have implemented simulation into our workshops to make teaching much more effective. The correlation of the 3D beating heart with the ultrasound TEE image really cements the understanding of image correlation by guiding the attendees in how to manipulate the probe to obtain the desired images in real time. Today, TEE simulation adds an air of realism close to that of an actual patient.”
Craig Henshaw, VP of Global Channel Sales at MedaPhor said, “We always enjoy supporting these workshops with EACVI. It’s fantastic to witness first-hand the educational impact that HeartWorks has on furthering clinicians’ echo skills and knowledge, particularly in a complex examination like TEE.
‘It is our hope that we can continue this relationship with EACVI and support their future plans to provide education in Point of Care Ultrasound with our BodyWorks Eve simulator.”
The next EACVI workshops will be taking place during EuroEcho, in December in Milan, where HeartWorks TEE simulators will be used to support three days of TEE education. Click here to view the scientific programme.
